On Saturday me and Makayla and dad went for a walk. we saw birds and fish we went to the cafe arfter that.
On Sunday we went to a party. I got a lole bag. It was fan,I saw lots ovi my freinds. It was fun.

26/02/10 What's Going On?
Well it's the end of another busy week in BD Class. We had a great today. We did some really good writing. Mr D was impressed that people are trying to do their writing goals. We looked at some bob sledding on You Tube. We thought it was pretty amazing. Nearly all of us have finished our pastel blending art now. Some of them are framed and up on the wall. They look really cool. This afternoon we went to the computer suite and practised some more Kid Pix skills. Have a great weekend everyone.

25/02/10 What's Going On?
It was another busy day in Mr D's class today. We were amazed by the singing of a group called Perpetuum Jazzile. They only use their voices to make all the instruments. We thought it was just awesome. We are getting really good our Kapa Haka songs now. Mr D enjoyed working with our maths groups today too.

24/02/10 What's Going On?
It has been another busy day in BD Class. We have done some cool work with Miss Ymker. We finished off some statistics work we have been doing and it is now up on the wall. Yesterday we were great for Miss Kellogg. She was very impressed with the way that we worked. Leo is Star of the Day today. Bluey has been having a great time at everyone's houses. Don't forget library day tomorrow.

22/02/10 What's Going On?
We had a pretty busy day today because Mr D got everyone to work really hard. Robert and Eddie had an exciting weekend too. Mr D got people to help him find capitals and fullstops for writing. We got to write on the Mimio. During maths time, one of the groups was playing squeeze on the Mimio. They got pretty good at it. Mr D taught the class lots of our reading games so that we can work on them independently. Tomorrow, Mr D isn't at school because he is on a course. Miss Kellogg will be taking the class and we have got some exciting things to do.

19/02/10 What's Going On
Well it's the end of another week. We have had a very creative day today. We did some writing this morning as well as maths. After morning tea we went to the computer suite and learnt some things about KidPix. We practised using the drawing and fill tools. After that we started some art. We are practising blending colours. 18/02/10 What's Going On?
It was a muggy wet day today but we great day too. We had a visitor in our class called Miss Kellogg. She was looking around to see how schools in New Zealand work. She watched us do writing, PE and maths. In maths we were learning about numbers that come after. We used the number fans. We did sprints for PE. Mr D was really happy that everyone was able to run straight. Miss Ymker took us for reading today and we shared our special toys. Kapahaka was fun.

17/02/10 What's Going On?
We had a great day today. Taine shared a really cool story about a Daddy Long-Legs and we did some great writing. We did some work on the "sh" sound at the end of words and we started some cool art about the Rainbow Fish. Miss Ymker said that the class was awesome at PE. They are really good runners and hurdlers. Hannah had a great day because she was Star of the Day AND she got to take the Lego home!

16/02/10 What's Going On?
We had a full-on day today in BD Class. Eddie and Robert has a funny dream and they thought that they were super heroes. We were super busy with writing and reading. We learnt a new game during maths time called "Squeeze." Lots of people got to have go using the Mimio to play the game. For PE we started doing jumping to prepare for long jump and high jump. We might get to jump on the big mat later on in the week. What a cool day.

15/02/10 What's Going On?
We were all glad to be back at school after a nice weekend. We got to see some ski jumping and luge from the Winter Olympics. We were amazed at how far some of the ski jumpers could go. The people on the luge went really fast. We did weekend writing and Mr D heard all the reading groups. Everyone has got a reading goal now. We had syndicate assembly and we performed the t-shirt song to the class. For printing we are learning to do the letter "a" properly. We found out a lot of other letters start the same way.

12/02/10 What's Going On?
Well we have reached the end of another week. It is going by really fast. Today we did some writing about our favourite places to visit. We learnt about tens frames in maths and how you can use them to add number together. We finished off our face art today and they look kinda cool. We sung "The T-shirt Song" to our buddies today. They thought it was really awesome. Dev had a great day because he was "Star of the Day" and he got an achievement award at assembly. Great stuff Dev! This afternoon we learnt some new reading games that we can do in class during reading time. Have a great weekend!

11/02/10 What's Going On?
It was a cloudy, muggy day today. We had a great time at Kapahaka with Papa Murray. He was very impressed that we remembered a lot of the songs and actions. We learnt a new song at reading time. It was about t-shirts and we really rocked out to it.
At writing time we wrote stories about our favourite things. You can see a picture of our writing model below. We write the story with Mr D and he gets us to sound out the words. When the story is finished he ticks the sounds we got right and then writes the proper word above it. It helps us to see what we have done well in our writing. Tomorrow is the end of Week 2. Boy it is going by very fast!

10/02/10 What's Going On?
We had a really interesting day today in BD Class. Ms Ymker was in for Mr D. Every Wednesday Mr D. is released from the classroom to do all sorts of things like testing, admin, ICT training and working with children. We met Millie, who is our class noise mouse. We did some cool work looking at the "sh" blend again. Everyone got s sticker on their chart for being really supportive during PE. We have got some great runners in our class. We thought it was funny that Robert and Eddie got to talk to the parents last night. Bluey has been having an awesome week visiting different houses. It seems like he is being well fed. He might need to do some exercise!

09/02/10 What's Going On?
We had a cool day today. We learned some interesting things during reading time. We looked at apostrophes. We found out that they are used to shorten and bring two words together. Jessica B was really onto it because she worked out 3 of them. Mr D gave everyone their writing goals today. He was impressed to see everyone trying to work on their goal in their story writing. After lunch our buddy class came by and we did some environment work. Now the gardens are looking a lot less weedy. This evening we have parent information evening. We might introduce Robert and Eddie to the parents. That will be cool.

08/02/10 What's Going On?
It was a great Monday in BD Class. Today we tried to do news in a different way using Skype. Unfortunately it wasn't working too well so Mr D is going to try again tomorrow. Everyone did some great writing to day. It was nice to hear about what everyone got up to on the weekend. This week we are focusing on the "sh" blend. We learnt how Harry Hat Man is telling Sammy Snake to be quiet. That's why he makes a "sh" sound.We started to look at words that start with "sh" We found there were lots of them! Mr D told us our reading groups and we started to use the taskboard. We are looking forward to using the iPods this week too!

05/02/10 What's Going On?
Well we have already finished the first week of school. We have had a really exciting day. This morning we did Jump Jam. Mr D brought his remote controlled monster truck to school. He called it the "Bluey Mobile." Bluey got to race all around the playground on the "Bluey Mobile." We did some great writing as well. After morning tea we looked at our seal glyphs and worked out different ways of sorting the information. We found out that:
1) Everyone in our class is 5.
2) There are two more boys than girls.
3) Most people in the class have a brother or a sister.
4) More people have pets in our class.

04/02/10 What's Going On?
We had another busy day in BD Class. Keenan was the Star of the Day and got to look after Bluey for the night.
We did some writing for the first time today. Mr D was really happy because everyone did great sounding out.
We finished our Hungry Giant pictures and we saw the story on the big screen. This afternoon we came up with some rules to make our class a nice place to be.

03/02/10 What's Going On?
What a great first day we have had. The weather was great and it was awesome to be with all of our friends. We got to sign in using the Mimio and we got to see our class Robots, Robert and Eddie. We did some running practise for PE. Miss Ymker did printing with us and we read The Hungry Giant by Joy Cowley. This afternoon we did some drawings of the Hungry Giant. We met our new buddies and had photos with them. What an awesome day. :-)
