15/04/13 What's Going On in BD Class?

What a cool couple of days in BD Class. On Monday we did some great weekend writing. it was so good to see people writing a lot more ideas in their writing.
Well done to Harrison and Olivia who have completed their 50 nights reading. Madison and Benny also got awards at syndicate assembly as well. Great stuff guys.
This week we are learning about the blend "ch". We came up with lots of different words that start and end with "ch".

10/04/13 What's Going On in BD Class?

Today we started of with writing about our trip to the marae. We were trying to use our thinking hats again to plan our ideas.
This afternoon, we had discovery time and we did a whole lot of activities related to our work about the marae. We got to make some waka, a whare nui, a tiki and some kowhaiwhai patterns. Check out some of our great work.

09/04/13 What's Going On in BD Class?

Today was our big trip to Takapuwahia Marae. Everyone was really excited to be going on the bus.

When we got there we were welcomed onto the marae with a karanga. We went into the whare nui where there were some speeches. We sung "He Honore" amazingly well.

We had morning tea, then we did a whole lot of different activities. We had a go at using rakau, patu and poi poi. It was lots of fun.
When it was time to go home, we were pretty tired. But it was great fun at the marae.

08/04/13 What's Going On in BD Class?

What a great week it has been so far. We welcomed Maddie and Vincent to the class. On Monday, Harrison brought in some very interesting news. He shared his prize-winning pumpkin. He painted it like a rugby ball and it won the "best dressed" pumpkin. It was pretty awesome!
We did some great writing on Monday. We are learning to use our thinking hats when we plan our writing.
Mr D has been really impressed with the way a lot of us are using a lot more of our knowing words in our writing and we are hearing the sounds in the words we don't know.

So far this week we have had a bunch of people get their next reading stickers. Well done guys!
At Syndicate Assembly on Monday, a whole bunch of our class got their certificates from Junior Athletics Day. There were a lot of people who got places in the different events. Holly got a certificate for doing great reading.
