Balloon Fun

After yesterday's fun with balloons. We did some great writing. We are learning to try and use describing words to tell how the balloons moved and what they looked like.

28/05/13 What's Going On in BD Class?

We have had a really fun day today. The first thing we did today was have some balloon fun. Everyone in Adventure Block got a balloon and we took them to the hall. We had lots of fun and came up with some great ideas for our writing.

For our Science topic we looked at what makes the air move. We came up with these ideas:

27/05/13 What's Going On in BD Class?

It was another busy start to the week in BD Class. We started of with maths then got into writing. We are still learning to make sure we put fullstops at the end of an idea.

For reading, we are looking at the sound "ng". We came up with lots of "ng" words. See if you can find some more.

After lunch, we had syndicate assembly and then we started our science topic. Here is what we found out.

We have some champion readers who have achieved 100, 75 and 50 nights reading. We also had Harry and Harrison getting awards at Syndicate Assembly.

22/05/13 What's Going on in BD Class?

Wow! What an exciting day. We had a visit from Emily and Allen from Science in a Van. They did a special show called the Wonderful World of Bubbles. We learnt about mixtures, separating, reactions and gases. It was amazing. Check it out!

21/05/13 What's Going On in BD Class?

This morning got of to an exciting start with our visit from Science in a Van. Allen and Emily gave us a bit of an introduction about what we would be seeing tomorrow. Check out this video to see what it was about. Science in a Van Intro.

We did some great writing about it this morning.

After morning tea, we did some cool work on making rockets to go in our pockets. We chose some "ck"words then we wrote them on some rockets.

Mr D was doing some alphabet/word testing and was really impressed with the way that everyone has improved. Well done everyone!

20/05/13 What's Going On In BD Class?

We started the week with maths today. We are now timing ourselves when we do our 2-dice adding. We are learning to say the biggest number then count on the rest. You can see our current record time at the side of our blog.

Mr D and Olivia went to Disney on Ice on the weekend. For our writing we are trying to focus on putting a full stop at the end of each idea we write.

We have another bunch of people who have achieved 50 and 75 nights reading. Top stuff guys!

This week we are looking at what happens when "c" and "k" come together. We found out that there are lots words that have "ck" in them. We also found out that there were lots of rhyming words as well.

This week, Mr D is going to be testing us on our basic words. You can practise by checking out this slideshow to practise your words.

14/05/13-15/05/13 What's Going On in BD Class?

We have had a messy couple of days in BD Class. On Tuesday morning we made gloop for our language experience. It was lots of fun getting all messy. it was really cool because the gloop would go hard, then it would melt again. It was pretty amazing!

On Wednesday we read the book Meanies. Then we did some great writing about our meanies and the strange things they did.

On Wednesday afternoon we had a messy Discovery Time. We made gloop, played with gloop, did water play, sand play, play-doh...all sorts of things. It was lots of messy fun!

13/05/13 What's Going On In BD Class?

It was a beautiful day start to the week. We kicked off with some great maths. We had one group working on "Hungry Fish" on the iPads. We are all learning to count on from the biggest number when we join two sets together.

For writing, our focus is on working out where the end of an ideas is, and putting a fullstop there.

We looked at another Letterland Blend today. It is the soft sounding "th."

We have more people who have reached 50 nights and 75 nights reading. Well done guys!

This afternoon we had school assembly. Rebecca and Makayla both got certificates.

06/05/13-08/05/13 What's Going On In BD Class?

It has been a great start the term in BD Class. We welcomed Zoe Hodder to our class this term. She was Star of the Day on Monday. The next day she brought Goliath to school all dressed up. Thanks for making such a great start to the term, Zoe.

Mr D has been so impressed with the way everyone has been doing great writing this week. We have been writing about what we have been doing in the holidays and  what we did today when we went on our frosty morning walk.

Yesterday, Blake did some amazing writing and today Dylan did some great writing. They both got to go to see Mrs Jennings for a principal's award. Well done guys.

This morning we went on a bit of a frosty walk. We came up with some great ideas for our writing today.

Today we celebrated four more people who got 50 nights reading. Good stuff Maddison, Holly, benny and Dylan.
