30/06/10 What's Going On?
What a yummy day! We had such a cool day with Miss Ymker. We had a gingerbread making day. It was really awesome. First we had to mix all the ingredients. Then we rolled out the dough and cut out our gingerbread men. Miss Ymker put them in the oven and cooked them. After lunch we made houses for our gingerbread men and decorated our gingerbread men. Then the best part...we got to eat them. While all this was happening, Mr D was making a special farewell video for Miss Ymker. When we watched it we made sure that Miss Ymker had a box of tissues. We will miss you Miss Ymker.

22/06/10 & 23/06/10 What's Going On?
It has been a really busy couple of days in BD Class. We have had parent/teacher interviews and that has meant we have tried to fit everything in before 2:00pm each day. Mr D was really impressed with the way that everyone did such a good job at interview time. A lot of people achieved their goals and have got new ones. Some people will keep working on their goals. But that's all cool. Over the past two days we have been finishing off our kit designs. Jarden and Cory have already done theirs on Kid Pix. They look really cool too. Everyone did a great job with their mihi when Mr D videoed them. Well done Mr D's class.

What's Going On? 23 June 2010
We started the day off by doing our reading groups. Some of us got to make a big scarecrow picture just like in the book we were reading.
After morning tea it was time to go outside and practise our soccer dribbling skills. We played sharks and minnows, traffic lights and soccer stuck in the mud. We loved sharks and minnows the best. Well done minnows, you had to be speedy at racing around with your soccer balls to get away from those hungry sharks!

Taine at work at The Radio Station
Well look who we have here!! Taine recently spent a day at Dad's work, which just happens to be the Radio Network. It wasn't all socialising though Taine recorded some adverts while he was there, which we hope to be able to add to the blog in the near future. It's hard work having to read and learn your lines ready for recording, but it is also a great deal of fun!!

It was quite tricky speaking lots of words in Maori but Mr D. thought we did pretty well. All the parents will get to see them over the next two days.
Walking in the Rain by Hannah
I am walking in the rain with mum and Cam. I`m wearing my gumboots so I can splash in puddles. We walked to the shops and I got an ice lolly. It was on Sunday after lunch. I like walking in the rain.

It has been a cool day. Miss Ymker came in and helped us finish our flowers for the Art Exhibition. Mr D caught up with all of the reading groups today. We looked out our inquiry question and thought about some answers. We chose a country we would like to design a football kit for. We drew the flag and found where the country was on the map. Mr D helped us find things that were special to the country we have chosen. You can see them below. Tomorrow we will be able to start our kit designing. What fun!

09/06/10 What's Going On?
Wow, we had an exciting morning making volcanoes with shells, sand and dinosaurs!
The red lava bubbled and flowed down the mountain trickling over our dinosaurs toes.
What exciting stories we are creating about our volcano experience.
We will post our volcano pictures today.
For maths we went on a shape treasure hunt around the school. We found diamonds, circles, oblongs, squares and triangles. Great hunting everyone! I can't wait to see our photos.

02/06/10 What's Going On?
Even though it was another rainy day, we had a great day in BD Class. Everyone is working so hard at the moment. We made some statements about what we found out about the World Cup football kits. Tasha came up with a great idea when Tim noticed that there would be a problem if there were teams playing each other with the same colour. Tasha said that they could wear a change kit. Great thinking Tim and Tasha! We will look at that a little later.
