25/02/13 What's Going on in BD Class?

It has been a busy and productive day in BD Class. Everyone has worked really hard today which has been great to see. This morning, for writing, we did another round of "knowing" words. We are learning more and more, and this is helping us with our writing and reading.

For writing we shared about what we did on our weekend. It was so good to see people writing 3 or more ideas in their writing.

For maths today, some of us did some work looking at number to 100. We played and "I Spy..." game with Mr D to see if we could find a number.

After maths, we did reading. Mr D made up another movie book for us. This on was called "The Gardener." We think the gardener is a bit silly.

After lunch we looked at our new TRUMP skill for the next two weeks. It is "using our initiative." We talked about what this would look, sound and feel like. Here are our ideas.

We think our parents will enjoy this one!

18/2/13-22/2/13 This Week in BD Class

It was a funny old week in BD Class. We only got to see Mr D for one and a bit days, but were lucky enough to have Mrs Berney for the rest of the time.

It was a big week swimming. We went swimming three times. We'll be starting to look like fish soon. Everyone is making great progress in the pool.

We have been producing some great writing as well. On Wednesday, Amy and Maddison D got to take their writing to Mrs Jennings. They did such a great job. We have been learning to us "knowing words" in our writing. These are the words we can see in our heads and can write them down quickly.

For printing this week, we have been practising another letter that starts in the same place a "o" and "c". It is the letter "a".

Mrs Berney gave us some homework on Monday. We had to find out about where we lived, our phone numbers and who lived in our house. We got to make some awesome houses and we did some great writing about them. What a great week!

13/02/13 What's Going On in BD Class?

Today we got lots of work done. We started off with reading. We got to watch the "Where Is Miss Pool?" movie then we got stuck into reading groups.

After morning tea we made our own version of the "Where is Miss Pool?" story. We came up with different ideas about where Mr D was.

We are trying to make sure we listen carefully for the beginning and end sounds in the words we don't know.

We have been reading "Where is Miss Pool? by Joy Cowley for our shared book this week. Mr D made a little movie based on the story. We can read it and practise it lots and lots now.

12/02/13 What's Going On in BD Class?

It has been a busy start to the week in BD Class. We got started with some good statistics work yesterday. We asked the question "How do we get to school in the morning?" We talked about all the different ways we could get to school. We all drew a picture and then we sorted them into columns to make a pictogram.

We found out that most people in the class came by car. Mr D asked the question "Why do you think that is?" Olivia said it's probably because people live far away from school. The Mr D asked "How do you think this would look if it was raining?" The class said nearly everyone would come by car. We then showed it in a different way with a pie graph.

For printing we have been practising the letter "o". When we do printing we have a little video playing on a loop to show how to do it.

Harrison did some great writing today and got to show it to Mrs Jennings. Great stuff Harrison!

 This afternoon we talked about the thing that would make our class a great place to be. We came up with these great ideas.
