Today in BD Class (05/08/14)

We has a great time today. We went for a frosty walk down on the field. It was pretty chilly.

Then we did some great descriptive writing about it too.

This afternoon we got the musical instruments out and did some more rhythm patterns. We played beat detective then used the instruments to make a different pattern.

This Term (So Far) in BD Class

We have had a really fun and busy start to the term. We have been learning a lot about different vowel sounds. So far we have have been learning about the "a", "e" and "i" sound. There are lots of different ways of making these sounds.

 

We have also found lots of words that have these sounds in the beginning, middle and end of words. Mr D has been impressed because we have been finding these words in our reading books.

Last week we did some art workshops with Stephanie Woodman. We have been learning to use water colours and pastels to create awesome artworks.

We have also been learning about beat and rhythm. We have come up with some different rhythm pattens and we have been using notation to show pup patterns.

Week 8 in BD Class

We have had a great week so far. On Tuesday we went to the Cosmodome.

We have been learning about Matariki and why it is a special time of the year. We read this book and listened to the story as well. You can check it out here.

We had a great time at Discovery Time today. We were celebrating Matariki and did lots of fun activities.

Week 6 in BD Class

We have had a great week in BD Class. We have been doing some amazing writing, amazing maths and amazing reading.

This week we have been looking at more "s" blends

On Tuesday, it was a rainy day. We did some rain dancing for language experience. It was great fun!

On Wednesday we watched, read and listened to the story Watercress Tuna and the Children of Champion Street.

For writing we made our own innovation of the story. We illustrated our stories and you will be able to see them next week.

Week 4 in BD Class

We have had a great time celebrating Samoan Language week. We have been doing some great work learning to speak Samoan. Check out our awesome counting.

On Friday we had a big assembly where we celebrated what we had been doing in our school.

We tried eating coconut as well.

The other big thing that happened this week was our school cross country run. Well done to Bay who was 1st in the Year 1 boys and Alana who was 2nd in the Year 1 girls. Great effort guys!
