25/09/12 What's Going On?

What a busy day. We kicked off with maths then got stuck into our reading. We learnt about another two sounds that the letter "a" makes. There were heaps of words!

This afternoon we had a go at making our own "I Spy" pages. Over the rest of the week we will write our riddles so people can find things on the pages. See what you can spot.
A big thank you to Kaleb's mum who spent the day with us helping out the Taniwha wearable arts group. Thank you so much Nicki!

We had another HUGE wearable arts day today. Our costumes are beginning to take shape. Mr D has been VERY impressed with the way that people have been cooperating and following instructions. William's mum and Piper's mum came into help us today. Here is our big wearable arts checklist. We are getting there!
We now have some reading double centurions. Well done to Piper and Kaleb for reaching 200 nights!

17/09/12 What's Going On?

Today was full on! We got stuck into our wearable arts costumes. We were so grateful to have Sophie's mum, Piper's mum and Sam's mum come and help us today. We will post up some pictures tomorrow, but we don't want to give too much away!

This morning we did some amazing maths. The "Circles" group were doing some multiplication using "Flip Flies." Mr D said this was stuff they do in Year 3, 4, 5 and 6. Wow!

12/09/12 What's Going On?

It was another really busy day in BD Class. We did dome more amazing multiplication work in maths. We set class records for Around the World in our 2s, 5s and 10s.

For writing we finished off our Harry narratives. We looked at the second half of he story. We are learning that as an author, we need to describe the action because people can't see it.

We did some more work on our pieces of wearable art. All of the groups have got started now. They're going to look amazing.

Check out our fantastic football skills from our Ole Soccer session yesterday.
Remember that tonight is the Discovery School Art Exhibition. The hall looks incredible with all these wonderful pieces of art. Make sure your family comes to check it out.

11/09/12 What's Going On?

We kicked the day off with maths. We are now learning about multiplication. We had a go at skip-counting to work out twos, fives and tens.

For writing we continued with our "Harry Head in the Clouds" narrative. We turned a cartoon into a narrative.
After morning tea we did our final planning for our pieces of wearable arts. We are now ready to start creating and working on our costumes. Mr D thinks our classroom is going to become a bomb site.

Tomorrow night is the Discovery School Art Exhibition. We are all very proud of our pieces of art. We hope that all our parents and caregivers purchase our great coffee cups. Here is a sneak preview.
Today we celebrated another bunch of children who have achieved their next round of reading stickers. Well done everyone!
